We announced the winner of the Fred Kacena Flight Training Scholarship some weeks back – Joe Pitts. If you fly at or into New Garden Flying Field you’re likely to have met Joe – he works as Lineboy at the weekend.
Here’s his story:
I was born in Mission Viejo, CA. I moved to PA in 1998. My dad is an airline pilot for US Airways and is currently flying the Airbus A319/320/321.
I am currently a senior at Avon Grove High Dchool. I am involved in the engineering/robots program at the high school as well as being involved with the boyscouts and I am also an Eagle Scout. I’m currently working on getting my private pilots license and hope to be soloing soon. I work at Giant as well as being a lineboy a New Garden on the weekends. I hope to get a degree in aerospace engineering and go through Air Force ROTC. I would ultimately like to be a pilot in the US Air Force.
Joe will join us at a future Membership Meeting and tells us of his progress with his flight training.
