Sponsorship

Several members have mentioned that they are unable to get the hangar at weekends, or work on Restoration Project, or help out at the Chapter as much as they would like. They want to help in some form, and the Board discussed how we can make it possible for members like this to contribute.

We propose to put a Sponsorship Process in place, where the various needs of the Chapter can be met through sponsorship. For example a member has recently contributed 50% of the estimated costs to insulate our hangar and workshop. Several members have purchased and donated tools for the workshop. And we have some quite large hangar maintenance projects we’d like to get underway in 2010 (finish the kitchen,bathrooms, replace refrigerators etc).

If you feel you’d like to contribute via the sponsorship process here’s a sample (and not complete) list of new items needed in the workshop;

Wish List of Tools (compiled by Chuck Shipman):

Tube Bender 3/8, 5/16, 1/4, 3/16; 1/4 Drive Socket Set; Riveting Set or any part thereof; Tap and Die Set; Cylinder Base Nut Wrenches; Blind Hole Locators / Hole Duplicators; Safety Wire Twisters; Valve Spring Compressor; Piston Ring Compression Set; Torque Wrench 3/8 in drive, 1/4 in drive, ft/lbs, in/lbs…to name just a few!

Check - before you buy! - please with Chuck Shipman if you would like to contribute in this way.

There are of course larger items, including replacing the fridges and the shelving and storage in the kitchen area. And we’d also like, for example,  to get a welding set O2/acetylene for members use in the hangar.

Many items will be tax-deductable!

If you’d like to sponsor some of these larger items please contact Mike.

So, this is just an idea for those who’d like to help out in this way. No pressure. No rush. We’ll get-by with what we have in most instances. But, if you wish to, this is one way members can support the work of this great Chapter of ours.

Thanks.
