June 6, 2011 Member Meeting Minutes

Meeting was convened after 7 PM. Approximately 75 were in attendance.

Joe Long introduced the speaker, Eugene Richardson, who spoke about the impact black Americans have had on flying in the United States from the early days, including the role of the Tuskegee Airmen in WW II.

The winners of the Kacena scholarships, JP Norton and Jimmy Reagan, were introduced and it was announced the Mike Parry and Bill Kelsall will function as their mentors during their flight learning process.

The pancake breakfast was discussed and a call was made for volunteers at the two breakfasts during the airshow days and at setup on Friday, June 10

John Martin provided an update on the camp stating that 40 had registered so far with an expectation of having a total of 60 by the time camp is held in July. He also presented information about the airshow and its schedule.

Chuck Shipman spoke about the deck project. He asked for a show of hands of those interested in having a deck. More than 1/2 indicated an interest. He then asked how many would be willing to volunteer to work on the project. Only a handful raised their hands. He then presented information regarding the insulating of the hangar door.

Carl Spirito spoke about the Dayton trip. He was trying to firm up commitments to fly aircraft that weekend.

There was no further business and the meeting was adjourned.
