Membership Report – Larry van Deusen
Larry reminded the members about renewing their annual dues. He stressed that we are always looking for volunteers to serve in various capacities.
Hangar Report – Chuck Shipman
- Sheet metal to cover insulation on hangar door.
- New tables will be ordered
- Folding polyethylene plastic/steel tables will be ordered to replace the old wooden tables and benches
- Wooden tables and benches will be kept for now and possibly offered to members to take home or other ?
- Eagle Scout project
- A young man has offered to construct an outdoor patio for the chapter as his Eagle Scout project. Chuck will be responsible for oversight.

Scholarship
There will be two $1,500 scholarships made available this year (already posted on the chapter web site – http://www.eaa240.org/?page_id=115 ). To raise funds to support this, activities will be as follows:
- Pedal plane – the raffle drawing will take place on the second day of the New Garden Air Show.
- Members are asked to purchase at least 5 tickets for $25 to support the scholarship. These can be re-sold to friends at $5, kept or given away at the member’s discretion.
- 50/50 proceeds will be used for the scholarship fund
- New Garden airport flight school (http://www.newgardenflightconnection.com/) has donated 2 introductory flight lessons which will be raffled at the airshow in support of the scholarship fund.
- R/C Helicopters will be raffled at Pancake Breakfasts.
Upcoming Events
March – Sun ‘n Fun – Don Bennet has rented and sleeper bus and is looking for members to share it at $50 per night.
Financials – Sandy Walther
The current bank balance is around $11,000. Sandy has presented a 2012 budget to the board for review.

Hugh Horning informed everyone that Leon Slocomb has a Sequoia Falco project that is 40% done and he would like to pay someone to continue work on it.

Presenter – Lee Blazejewski
Lee provided a stimulating multimedia presentation entitled “GYROPLANES: flying the rotor”. He covered the complete history of the development of the gyroplane and described the experience of learning to fly gyros. In a gyro one must keep in mind that lift is provided by the rotating rotor – which only rotates due to forward motion.
