Air Show and EAA240 Pancake Breakfast 2012

In the face of unhelpful and inaccurate weather forecasts EAA240 and New Garden Flying Field enjoyed a weekend of fine weather, exceptional aviating and fun for the whole family. For our Pancake Breakfast we started early in the week as provisions were purchased, stored and readied. Our Hangar and Meeting Room were spruced up and prepared Friday and very early Saturday morning. Grills were fired up early to be able to serve the Air Show performers who, like in previous years, looked for an early breakfast from their EAA240 friends. Teams prepared, cooked, cleaned and served throughout Saturday and Sundays, closing each day at noon to go and enjoy the flying displays. At noon on Sunday we worked to get the hangar restored to working order. All of this came together because of the exceptional teamwork from EAA240 members. And yes, it is hard and demanding work. But it is also great fun and the regular team who come together to make it all happen do so for that reason. We served 488 breakfasts during the two-day Air Show, slightly below our past years but an amazing number, and one that helps secure our financials going forward. We also rely on the Air Show to market and sell Pedal Plane raffle tickets to fund the Fred Kacena Flight Training Scholarships for the year. Again, the EAA240 team was up to the task and from our booth at the flight-line we sold $595 worth of tickets to a very receptive aviation and family audience, with every penny going into the Scholarship fund.

We had the drawing at 3pm Sunday during the Air Show and our 2012 winner was selected by the celebrity Calendar Girl. Our winner is Mr Chipman, and he collected his Pedal Plane later that afternoon. More details and photographs here.
