Charles Gaffeney, longtime member of EAA Chapter 240 and constant supporter, has passed away after a period of declining health.
Chuck was instrumental in the construction of our hangar – creating the design and drawing up the plans. He was an enthusiastic aviator, aircraft owner and builder. He claimed that flying “makes you feel 10 years younger”. He proved this by embarking on a new build project when he was well into his 80s.
His quick wit and cheerful demeanor was a constant blessing for members who frequented the hangar on weekends. He will be missed.
Calling hours for Chuck will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Tuesday, May 16 from 5:00-7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Helena Roman Catholic Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington on Wednesday, May 17 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
