The EAA240 Board is pleased to announce the role of Hangar Manager has transitioned to Melissa Ortega, effective immediately.
Chuck Shipman has, of course, undertaken this role for the Chapter for many years. We all thank Chuck for his service, his expertise and his dedication. Our hangar facility would not be of the high order that it clearly is today, without his efforts. Chuck will support Melissa as she moves into her new role. Board members will additionally assist Melissa in the many regular tasks required of the Hangar manager.
As a reminder of the scope of the role, reporting to the Board (in a Board position), the Hangar Manger will oversee the overall maintenance, care and condition of the full facility. The focus will be on safety, security and member usability. As in the past, a monthly funding allocation will be provided by the Board for incidentals related to the upkeep of the facility, with purchases exceeding $100/month requiring Board member pre-approval. (It requested that members seek pre-approval with the Hangar Manager prior to any purchases for our hangar).
In the area of safety, the Hangar Manager will ensure that safe and best practices are deployed when machinery or tools are in use. The highest standard of fire and smoke prevention, detection and extinguishing are in place and clearly indicated, per code. First Aid kits will be stocked, available and accessible. Exits are to be accessible at all times, are clearly marked and illuminated, per code.
Security will be regularly assessed, entry passkeys closely managed and best practices established and executed.
The Hangar Manager will oversee the allocation of workspace to members and will maintain a schedule to ensure optimum use, plus ensuring appropriate insurance coverage per project by each participating member is in place. The use of tools and machinery by members will be closely managed.
Use of the Chapter Meeting Room and other hangar facilities will be overseen by the Hangar Manager, coordinating as required with the Board.
Again, we welcome Melissa into this important Chapter role. Please stop by to thank and congratulate Melissa. She will appreciate your support.
