EAA240 in Action!
Following our successful and memorable 2011 Fly-Out to Dayton OH Air Force Museum we have opted for 2012 to have a:
Chapter Fly-Out to Kitty Hawk, and the Wright Brothers National Memorial – where it all started!
Like our Dayton adventure, by sharing costs, rooms and rental cars we can make this a very affordable and fun trip for all Members!
Join us in departing New Garden Flying Field N57 on the morning of Friday April 13th and flying to Kitty Hawk. We check into our reserved rooms at the Quality Inn Carolina Oceanfront Hotel, very close to the Memorial location.
North Carolina’s Outer Banks area is home to many beautiful beaches. Additional attractions nearby include the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Lost Colony outdoor drama show and Pirates Cove Marina.
Only a quick drive away is Albemarle Sound, which is perfect for sailing, boating, jet skiing and fishing. Enjoy hang gliding at Jockey’s Ridge State Park. Golf courses, tennis courts, movie theaters and bicycle rentals are all located in the surrounding area.
We’ll have dinner together Saturday evening, then spend Saturday and Sunday morning exploring the Memorial sites, museum and related historical locations in the area.
We check-out of our Hotel Sunday morning, April 15th and, after a group breakfast, fly home!

Meet at the Chapter Hangar 9am Friday April 13th; Flight briefing, seat allocations, Hotel confirmations, rental car arrangements etc.
Wheels-up 10am-ish (no rush!), for an arrival in the early afternoon at KFFA – First Flight Airport.

We plan to leave the aircraft at KFFA overnight. Tie-downs are recommended.
Rental cars (3) will be brought to the airport for our use during the weekend.

Car Rental Details:
We have booked three vehicles for the group, from Enterprise, who will deliver the cars to KFFA. The group will share all rental costs.

2. Speak with your favorite pilot/plane-owner – book a seat, then email the EAA240 Events Team with the details by clicking here. The Team will publish all arrangements (room bookings, airplane seats etc). Also, email the team if you wish us to find you a seat.
3. Get your swimmies ready- we’ll be having an EAA240 Polar Plunge in the hotel pool, or ocean!!
